The founders’ home
Alexandria was the home city of the funders and founders—the place where they were born, raised and formed their earliest understanding of community and work.
Udjat began as an investment idea, took shape through conversations during Ramadan 2021, and became a company built around an ancient Egyptian symbol of vision, protection and restoration. This is the story of how six founding members turned scattered meetings into an agency with a serious ambition for Egypt and the Arab world.

Before Udjat had a name, an office or a logo, it was another investment possibility being discussed by a group of funders and founders.
The group agreed to build the company around a professional who had spent years working across digital marketing and development. He became Udjat’s first founder and acting chief executive during the formation stage, helping translate investment interest into an operating company.
The earliest meetings took place during Ramadan 2021. There was no polished boardroom story. Some conversations happened inside company offices, others in cafés and rest areas, and some even took place inside a car. What mattered was not the setting; it was reaching agreement on the people, responsibilities and principles behind the business.
Once the founding and funding group had aligned, attention moved to identity: what should this company be called, what should it stand for, and what kind of future should the name make possible?
Udjat’s origin reflects a belief that still shapes the agency: meaningful progress comes from people working together, confronting questions honestly and turning different forms of expertise into one direction.
The ancient name appears in different English transliterations. Udjat is commonly pronounced approximately “OO-jaht,” while Wedjat is often rendered “WED-jaht.”
The founding team explored several possible names before returning to an ancient Egyptian word with the right meaning and sound.
Both “Udjat” and “Wedjat” refer to the Eye of Horus. The team chose “Udjat” because its sound felt lighter, clearer and more natural to the Mediterranean ear—reflecting the way people around the region often soften heavy consonants in everyday speech.
The choice was not made for decoration. The founders wanted an Egyptian symbol connected to foresight, protection, knowledge and the restoration of order. The name had to carry the identity of where the company came from and the ambition of where it intended to go.
From that decision, the logo-design journey began. The visual identity developed around the eye, not as an imitation of the past, but as a modern reminder to see beyond the immediate task, protect what clients have built and restore clarity when markets become confusing.
The founding team deliberately chose Alexandria for Udjat’s first headquarters. The decision was personal, cultural and strategic.
Alexandria was the home city of the funders and founders—the place where they were born, raised and formed their earliest understanding of community and work.
The city carries visible layers of ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Mediterranean history. That mixture made it a natural home for a company interested in identity and connection.
Alexandria has long been associated with literature, culture, design and creative exchange. Udjat wanted its first chapter to begin inside that living creative context.
In the literary version of the legend that inspired Udjat’s founders, Horus possessed extraordinary eyes. Anyone who looked deeply into them did not see only a reflection, but shadows of events that had not yet taken place—as if time itself appeared within them.
When Ra wished to know what the coming days might hold, he asked Horus for permission to look into his eyes. Ra looked carefully and saw the image of a black pig.
At that same moment, the animal appeared before Horus. But the pig was not what it seemed: it was Seth, Horus’s enemy, concealed in another form. When Horus looked at it, his eye was struck and he suffered intense pain.
Other established versions of Egyptian mythology describe Seth injuring or taking the eye during his conflict with Horus, before Thoth restored it. The repaired eye became the Wedjat—the eye made whole again and a symbol of restored order.
For Udjat, the legend carries a modern idea: vision is not merely seeing what is in front of us. It is the discipline of looking ahead, recognizing threats and possibilities, protecting what matters and helping fragmented parts become whole.
Evidence boundary: Protection, healing, restoration and wholeness are well-established meanings of the Wedjat eye. The future-seeing and black-pig narrative is presented here as the specific literary tradition cited by Udjat’s founders, not as the only version of the ancient myth.
The milestones below are based on Udjat’s published company history. They describe the growth of the team, locations and market reach without turning the story into unsupported claims.
After formation meetings during Ramadan, Udjat began operating on June 20 from Sakina Bint Al-Hussein Street in Kafr Abdo, Alexandria, with six founding members.
The working team developed to ten core members, allowing Udjat to strengthen specialist capacity while retaining a connected way of working.
In January, Udjat expanded its physical presence with an office in Giza, supporting closer access to businesses across Greater Cairo alongside its Alexandria base.
Udjat extended into the UAE, opening a distinct GCC-focused chapter through Udjat Agency Dubai while the Egypt entity continued serving Egypt and international markets.
Udjat now presents a connected range of services across research, strategy, branding, content, media, SEO, development, digital products, production, analytics and support.
Udjat’s development followed a recurring reality: business problems rarely stay inside one department. The agency expanded to connect the decisions that shape visibility, demand, experience and long-term performance.

Udjat is a transliteration of the ancient Egyptian name associated with the Eye of Horus. The word is connected with the idea of being sound, restored or whole again.
Udjat is commonly approximated in English as “OO-jaht.” Another transliteration, Wedjat, is often pronounced approximately “WED-jaht.” Ancient-language pronunciation cannot be reproduced with complete certainty.
The founders wanted an unmistakably Egyptian symbol aligned with vision, protection, knowledge, restoration and foresight. These ideas reflected how they wanted the agency to think and work.
